BALLISTICS - NATIONALLY ACCREDITED LAB: We are "on top of it" in Maine. As an Nationally Accredited Lab unlike many of the other states, we have gone through the most rigorous and monthy standards and just received recertificaton thru the American Society Of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board. Each Exmainer in all disciplines have to take several blind testing proficiency tests during the year which is administered by an out state independent Laboratory Testing Agency which is approved by ASCLAD. We have monthy inspections of our chemicals/safety standards etc., and have a Lab quality control technician assigned to this task. Also several years ago I told the Boston P.D. Lab as well as the Massachussettes State Police Laboratory that they should be members of the Association Of Firearm & Toolmark Examiners and adopt their standards which was met with deaf ears. (AFTE is the only recognized Ballistics Assn. in the world of which I am a Distinguished Life Member.) Boston P.D. and Mass S.P. got nailed a few years ago for not taking proper documentation on their examinations and that is where this liberal judge is coming from, it's referred to as the "Daulbert case" decision in Mass.)

Dear Friends of the Jury Box Blog,

As many of you know, I posted a survey a few weeks back to explore regional variations in trial consultant and graphics consultant usage by trial lawyers. Dozens of you were kind enough to fill out the brief survey and I have now had an opportunity to review the results and analyze the data.

I have posted my analysis and observations in three successive posts to The Jury Box Blog. So, pour yourself another cup of coffee, close the office door, put up your feet and check it out! I think that you will find the results to be pretty interesting. I know I did.

If you just visit the main link for The Jury Box Blog here, you will find all three posts, in reverse chronological order (Sorry, that's just how Blogspot handles these things).

To view the posts one at a time, use the following links:

Please feel free to add a comment to any of the blog entries or drop me a note with your thoughts on what you saw. Thanks again for your help.
